President Buhari: Fighting Graft Is Challenging Under Civil Rule


By Franca Edmund (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his frustrations at the limited success of his administration’s anti-graft wars, blaming it on the encumbrances of operating under a democratic system.

Buhari disclosed this during an exclusive interview Thursday morning on Arise TV, adding, however, that despite the limited success in the war against graft, his administration had succeeded in easing out corrupt public officials without the fanfare usually associated with such victories.

The president noted that much was achieved in the fight against corruption during his stint as a military dictator from 1983-85,   “when a lot of people were sent to prisons before I was also booted out”.
