NBA To Police: Stop Illegal Arrest, Detention Of People In Imo


By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Imo State branch has alleged that the police is illegally arresting and detaining innocent people in the state.

This allegation was made via a statement issued by the association’s spokesman, Uzor Enwere, in Owerri on Thursday, in which it said it had established a helpdesk to gather data of individuals arrested and detained unjustly by the police in the state.

The body added that the helpdesk will address unjust arrest and detention of innocent Imo residents to ensure their release, adding that the NBA’s Committee on Human Rights would synchronize the desk at the NBA Centre, and complaints received would be taken up with the appropriate quarters.

Enwere added that the help desk would open by 10:00 a.m. from June 4 at the Bar Centre, listing the helpdesk phone lines to include 08035251755, 08035512622, and 08035512622.
