By Nkoli Opara (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Usman Alkali Baba has been confirmed as the new Inspector General of Police, IGP, by the Police Council, following the approval of his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The confirmation was formalized on Friday during a meeting of the Police Council in Abuja presided over by President Buhari.

According to Maigari Dinyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs, who confirmed the development during a media briefing after the meeting, President Buhari charged Alkali to justify the confidence reposed on him by reducing the rising wave of insecurity in the country.
