Blind People Can Be Taught To Echolocate Like Bats And Dolphins, Study Reveals

=== (AGENDAWATCHDOG) === Blind people can be taught to echolocate like bats and dolphins, a study has found, paving the way for them to navigate their way around with a click of their tongue.

Researchers at Durham University found that humans can learn the skill in just ten weeks and said patients with sight loss should be prescribed echolocation training to improve their mobility and independence.

Echolocation works by creating sound waves, such as from a person clicking their tongue. These then bounce off objects and return an echo, allowing expert echolocators to create a three-dimensional ‘image’ in their mind, including where an object is and its shape and size.
