By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has approved the recruitment of 500 health workers as part of efforts by his administration to bridge the void in the state’s health sector.
This was disclosed via a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, who said that Governor Makinde revealed this during a Town Hall meeting to mark the second anniversary of his administration, held at the Saki Parapo Town Hall, Saki.
Adisa also disclosed that the governor equally flagged off the reconstruction of the 45.3 kilometre Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho Road, adding that Makinde administration’s commitment to building roads that target the economy of Oyo State has led to the massive ongoing infrastructure projects in the state.

The road project, which according to the governor, is expected to be completed in 18 months, was awarded to Messrs China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) at the cost of N8.7 billion under the Alternative Project Funding Approach.
Adisa added that Governor Makinde also noted that the challenge of understaffing in the public health sector in the state was something his administration has been trying to address, and that ongoing intervention to build at least one well-equipped Primary Health Care Centre in each of the 351 Wards of the state was on course.
