Explosion Rocks Mile 3 Market In Port Harcourt, Three Injured


By Nkoli Opara (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Three persons we reportedly injured as an explosion tore through a part of the popular Mile three market in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital at about 6:30 am this morning.

This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in Rivers State, Nnamdi Omoni, who said the three victims, one Mrs Ifemia Aloke,  popularly  known as ‘ Mama Joy’ and her son and one other young lady, are receiving medical attention.

Omoni added that normal trading activities have resumed at the Mile 3 market after “the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) was immediately dispatched to the scene to sweep and render the entire Market safe.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Eboka Friday has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident with a view to ascertaining the remote and immediate cause of the explosion with a view to apprehending the perpetrators, urging residents of the state to continue with their daily activities without fear of molestation as the command was capable of protecting lives and property.

However, while the Police statement did not indict anyone or group for the incident, no individual or group has also claimed responsibility for the explosion.
