=== (AGENDAWATCHDOG) === Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, announced on Friday that the Kano-Kaduna rail project would commence in July.
The minister, who made the revelation during a courtesy visit to Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje in Kano, added that the project will head to Lagos through Ibadan, while also saying that the Federal Government would link Kano to Maradi in Niger Republic.
While stating that Kano was a hub which will grow the economy and also create job opportunities for its teeming youths, Amaechi noted that the ministry, however, rejected the design for the train station in Kano in preference for a bigger and better one like that of Lagos.

Amechi, during his visit to Kano, also commissioned the North-West zonal office of Nigeria Shippers Council, and inspected the multi billion Naira Dala inland dry port.
Accompanying Amaechi on his visit were the Managing Director of Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr Hassan Bello, Director General of Nigerian Railway Corporation, Mr Fidet Okhiria, Permanent Secretary, Federal ministry of Transport, Dr Magdalene Nwanwuche and the Director General of Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Alhaji Bashir Jamoh.
PROJECTED IMPACT: The rail project, when completed, will boost commercial activities and create jobs for the teeming youths in Kano, which is the commercial nerve center of the North and some West African countries.
