Mali Coup Arrowhead Sacks Transition Leaders, Promises Polls In 2022


By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Mali coup leader,  Assimi Goita, on Tuesday, ousted two transitional leaders appointed consequent to a coup in August, 2020,  promising to conduct polls in 2022.

The military strongman announced this via a statement read on public television, accusing President Bah Ndaw and Prime Minister Moctar Ouane of trying to scuttle the transition, necessitating their being stripped of their portfolios.

Some army officers unhappy with a cabinet reshuffle had detained the pair, who were appointed in September under international pressure with the task of steering Mali back to full civilian rule within 18 months.
