£4.2m Ibori Loot Repatriated To Nigeria


By Nkoli Opara (AGENDAWACTHDOG) – The United Kingdom has repatriated to Nigeria the £4.2million confiscated from the associates of jailed former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Justice and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, via a statement released by his spokesman, Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu.

The statement read in part, “Federal Government of Nigeria has received GBP 4,214,017.66 of the loot associated with the family members of former Delta State Governor, James Ibori.

“The amount has been credited into the designated Federal Government account with naira equivalent value of the amount as of 10th May 2021”, the statement disclosed.

Following Malami’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the federal government for the return of the Ibori loot, he had, On May 3, announced that the United Kingdom would soon repatriate the looted fund to Nigeria.
