By Nkoli opera (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Tuesday, declared that the Federal Government does not lack the capacity to annihilate insurgents groups such as Boko Haram/ISWAP and armed bandits.
Mohammed said this during a press conference in Lagos, adding that far from lacking the capacity to deal with armed groups spreading their destruction and death across the country, the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government was committed to restoring law and order, peace and security in the country.

While condemning insinuations in some quarters that the federal government was overwhelmed by the security challenges, the minister said that, it was difficult for a democratically elected government to use the instruments of coercion against its own people as the insurgent and armed groups usually “operate among the populace, either in our villages or towns, hence the military, in tackling them, is usually careful to avoid collateral damage”.
Mohammed’s statement comes as security forces grapple with the activities of terrorists and bandits who have killed thousands, displaces hundreds of thousands and abducted several people for ransom.
