By John Imade (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The country’s security eggheads, the Service Chiefs, have received a fresh deadline to arrest the increasing state of insecurity in the country.
This new directive came, sequel to the conclusions of the National Security Council (NSC) meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Tuesday. By the new directive, the SCs are expected to devise new strategies to combat insecurity in all the 11 states in the South-South and South-East.
The fresh order to the security arrowheads was in response to the increasing spate of sneak attacks by non-state actors on state security facilities, alongside the killing of security personnel in the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones.
Briefing the media, following the conclusion of the meeting, Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Alkali Usman, alongside the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd), and the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, disclosed that President Buhari had Okayed the overhaul of the security apparatus in both South-south and South-east.
