LASWA Pledges Commitment To Protect Waterways, Donates 400 Life Jackets


=== (AGENDAWATCHDOG) === Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has flagged off the distribution of free life jackets to residents of different riverine communities in Lagos State, incontinuation of its safety awareness campaign programme

Explaining the purpose of the exercise, the General Manager of LASWA, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, said that the items were meant to ensure the safety of passenger during the rainy season.

Mr. Emmanuel warned boat operators to always navigate with caution and ensure all passengers put on their life jackets before boarding, promising that weather conditions will always be monitored before sailing during this rainy season.

The GM disclosed that a total number of 400 life jackets of various sizes were donated to ferry passengers, school children, and boat operators during the exercise at Ebute-Ero, Sabokoji, Liverpool, Temidire, and Coconut jetties in CMS and Apapa areas of Lagos State, adding that the exercise was one of the strategies adopted by LASWA to make water transportation safer for residents of the State.
