Canelo Alvarez Says He Would Love To Have Mike Tyson’s “Punching Power”, Picks “Dream opponents”

By Vanessa Ekpereka (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Canelo Alvarez has revealed if he could have the punching power of any fighter in history that he would pick Mike Tyson and also named his dream opponents from any era and his three favourite footballers.

The Mexican sensation is just days away from facing Billy Joe Saunders in a super-middleweight unification showdown which is being billed as one of the toughest fights of his career.

Canelo heads into the fight as a big favourite but Britain’s Saunders is expected to pose him some real problems with his slick movement. The pound-for-pound star will however have the advantage in power, though thankfully for Saunders his fists are not as concussive as the man he believes to be the biggest puncher in history.

Asked if he could have the power of any fighter from any time, who would it be, Canelo told DAZN ‘Mike Tyson because he had a brutal punch.

‘Even if he grazed you, he’d knock you out.’

As part of the build-up to Canelo’s blockbuster fight with Saunders, the multi-weight champion was asked 10 quickfire questions by DAZN, including who would be his dream opponents.

In response to that, Canelo said: ‘Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler.

‘I would have loved to be in there with any of those fighters.’

Canelo named Tiger Woods, ‘Checo Perez, Javier Hernandez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Lewis Hamilton and LeBron James, among his favourite athletes.
