Lai Mohammed: It’s Not FG’s Responsibility To Prosecute Kidnapping, Banditry Cases


By John Imade (AGENDAWATCHDOG) –  The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed,  has asserted that the prosecution of banditry and kidnapping cases was not the responsibility of the Federal Government, but that of the state governments. .

Mr. Mohammed made this remark during a media briefing on Tuesday, in reaction to the allegation by the former ruling party at the center, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, that the federal government was not comprehensively addressing the worsening security situation in the country.

According to the minister, the state governments, including those headed by members of the PDP, were accountable for the prosecution of banditry and kidnapping cases.

The PDP leadership had held a press conference on Monday, decrying the level of insecurity in the country and demanding that the federal government tackle the issues headlong.
