Bauchi Approves N1 Billion Loan To State Fertilizer Firm

=== (AGENDAWATCHDOG) === The Bauchi State Government has approved the sum of N1 billion as loan for the state fertilizer company, as part of efforts to boost food production in the forthcoming farming season, according to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

Mohammed made this known on Friday, while on a visit to the company in continuation of his project inspection tour across the state, revealing also that the state government had offset its backlog of debts amounting to N700 million to the company, which supplies fertilizer to all farmers in the state and the North-east.

The governor implored the management of the company to reciprocate the gesture by making good use of the funds and improving the supply of the product to farmers.

In response, the chairman of the company, Alhaji Bappa Aliyu Misau, lauded the state government for its kind gesture, promising the funds would be used for the purpose it is meant for, calling on farmers to take advantage of the various federal government interventions on agriculture and boost their farm produce and improve the socio-economic development in the state.

PROJECTED IMPACT: The financial support given to the company by the government will boost the production capacity of the company to not only produce fertilizer for the use of local farmers, but also for distribution to other parts of the north. The initiative is also necessary considering the fact that a high percentage of Bauchi State indigenes are farmers who require support to produce food for the rest of the populace.
