Good morning readers! This is a summary of some top news stories

1-.Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani each scored twice as Manchester United took a huge stride towards the Europa League final by coming from behind to thrash an injury-hit Roma 6-2 at Old Trafford. Fernandes’s early opener was quickly cancelled out by Lorenzo Pellegrini’s penalty before Edin Dzeko put Roma in front at half-time.

2-.The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced new appointments in one of Nigeria’s commercial banks, First Bank of Nigeria PLC, and retained Dr Sola Adeduntan as the bank’s Managing Director. This comes a day after the bank announced the removal of Adeduntan and Gbenga Shobo as his successor.

3-.Airtel Africa has appointed Segun Ogunsanya as its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The development follows the retirement of  Raghunath Mandava as the company’s MD and CEO.

4-.The Peoples Democratic Party has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security over the growing spate of attacks and kidnappings across the country. In a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the party on Thursday in Abuja, PDP’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, backed the call by the House of Representatives for the President to urgently fix the worsening insecurity.

5-.The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has passed a vote of confidence on its National Chairman, Uche Secondus. During its emergency meeting on Thursday in Abuja, it also endorsed the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Secondus, and warned members of the main opposition party against those it described as “agents of distraction and division.”

6-.Former US president Donald Trump complained Thursday that an FBI raid on the New York apartment of his ex-personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani was “so unfair.” Federal investigators with search warrants combed Giuliani’s Manhattan residence and a separate office on Wednesday, seizing electronic devices as part of a probe into his dealings in Ukraine.

7-.Barcelona spurned the chance to go top of the table on Thursday as a shock 2-1 defeat by Granada added another twist to La Liga’s most unpredictable title race in years.  Barcelona’s coach, Ronald Koeman was also sent off in the game.

8-.Four students of Capro Secondary Mission School located at Gana Ropp in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State were abducted in the early hours of Thursday. However, three of the students have escaped, while one is still in captivity. The school is an arm of Calvary ministries.

9-.Africa risks being overrun by coronavirus infections if urgent measures are not taken to avert a similar disaster to the “very concerning” crisis in India, the continent’s disease control body said Thursday. India, a vast subcontinent with a population similar to that of Africa, is fighting an explosion of infections, with jarring scenes of citizens desperately seeking oxygen and medicines.

10-.Arsenal on Thursday lost 2-1 to  Villarreal – managed by its former coach, Unai Emery –  in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final, compounding the Gunners’ miserable season.  Emery won his big reunion with Arsenal but 2-1 might prove a small reward for Villarreal, who failed to take advantage of Dani Ceballos being sent off in a frantic game.
