(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Bauchi State Government, in its drive to ensure the adequate and effectively policing of the state, has procured 50 JAC Pickup operational vehicles equipped with communication gadgets worth the sum of N759.5 million.
The vehicles were distributed on Saturday to all security agencies in the state as part of the efforts to improve security and enhance security operations especially at the grassroots where the people are considered most vulnerable to attacks by bandits.
During the distribution of the vehicles at Government House, the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, said that the procurement of the vehicles was a testimony of the state government’s concern towards a holistic approach to security challenges, adding that issues of armed robbery, cattle rustling, kidnapping farmers/ Herders clashes, banditry, and other criminal activities needed to be put in check in order to boost economic activities.
In the distribution of the operational vehicles, 33 Artillery Brigade of NA received 4; Nigeria Police Force received 16; Federal Road Safety Corps received 2; Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) received 2; Bauchi Road Traffic Agency received 4; the Department of State Security (DSS) received 2; State Sharia Commission Hisbah received 1; State Vigilante Committee received 1; Peace and Security Corps received 1; hunters group received 4; Traffic Management received 1 amongst other beneficiaries.
PROJECTED IMPACT: The provision of the operational vehicles is a morale booster for police personnel to better discharge their statutory duties by ensuring quality service delivery to the citizens as the vehicles will ease the movements of security operatives and ensure prompt response to emergencies. The logistic support has come at a good time as this laudable gesture has the capacity to serve as catalysts in the renewed vigor of the force to fight crime and criminality in the country.
