Recruit 50 Million Youths Into The Army, Other Security Agencies To Check Insecurity – Tinubu Tells FG

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Chief Bola Tinubu on Monday tasked the Federal Government to create employment for Nigerian youths by recruiting them into the country’s various security agencies as a means of checking the rising spate of insecurity in the country.

Tinubu gave this charge while addressing guests at the 12th colloquium organised in his honour.

According to the chieftain of the ruling All progressives Congress, APC, and former Lagos State Governor, the insurgents and bandits were taking advantage of the high unemployment rate in the country to recruit youths to carry out their evil devices, urging the government to draft the youth into the country’s national security agencies, but that this should not be based solely on educational qualifications.

“We are under-policed and we are competing with armed robbers and bandits to recruit from the youths who are unemployed —33 per cent unemployed?

“Recruit 50 million youths into the army, what they will eat —cassava, corn, yam, will grow here.

“Don’t talk about illiteracy, anybody who can hold a gun, who can handle a gun, who can cock and shoot is technically competent to repair a tractor in the farm”.
