Clean Energy: Edo State, Innoson Plan Collaboration To Convert PMS Vehicles To Run On CNG

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Edo State Government is set to collaborate with Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) to take the lead in the conversion of vehicles using Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

This was disclosed by the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of IVM, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, to Government House, Benin City, where he noted that there is a big push to buy vehicles but a bigger push to convert vehicles using PMS to run on gas, adding that Edo is the gas hub of the nation.

Obaseki expressed the state government’s readiness to collaborate with Innoson to train young men and women to do the conversion, lauding Chief Innocent Chukwuma for pioneering car manufacturing in Nigeria and overcoming the challenges in the automobile industry, adding that the state was developing an Industrial Park with the capacity of accommodating IVM.

PROJECTED IMPACT: The partnership will help train Edo people on how to convert PMS cars to CNG using the availability of electricity. The training, which will also include skills such as panel beating, auto-mechanic, painting and electricals, among others can provide thousands of jobs for the youths of the state.
