Nigerian-Canadian Company Set To Commence Exportation Of Gold From Nigeria In June 2021


(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Exportation of gold from Nigeria is  set to commence in June this year, as the Nigerian-Canadian company, engaged in the mining of gold in Osun State will soon kick start its operations.

The cheering news was made known by the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, in Abuja on Sunday, while making his remarks at a forum of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), during which he described the Segilola Gold Project as a strategic investment for Nigeria’s economic diversification; the first foreign investor that was doing serious business in Nigeria.

Speaking further, the minister explained that the company would have commenced gold exportation in Nigeria in the first quarter of 2021, if not for the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced it to postpone the take-off date.

PROJECTED IMPACT: The initiative will complement the Nigerian Government’s effort towards the diversification of its economy, create employment, earn more foreign exchange, in addition to exploiting the country’s potential in the mining sector.
