Ogbese Dam Will Enhance Irrigation Farming In Ekiti – Senator Bamidele


(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Senator Opeyemi Bamidele has urged the Federal Government to expedite action on the completion of Ogbese Dam to boost agricultural activities, particularly irrigation farming.

The lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, made the appeal while commissioning a solar-powered borehole he donated to Iyin Ekiti town.The project was captured under the Federal Government water intervention programme to commemorate the 2021 World Water Day celebration.

Represented by his Senior Legislative Assistant, Hon. Bunmi Oguntuase, the senator lamented that the project had been lying uncompleted for long.

PROJECTED IMPACT: The Ogbese multipurpose dam, which is located between Ikere and Ise Ekiti, could be used for irrigation, water supply and electricity generation for about four local governments in the Ekiti South Senatorial District, creating room for the state to achieve food security and generally enhance the local economy.
