Police: 317 Girls Abducted From Govt College In Zamfara


By John Imade (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Police in Zamfara have reported that about three-hundred and seventeen (317) students were abducted by gunmen from the Government Girls Science Secondary School Jangebe in Jangebe, Zamfara State. 

The school located within the Talata-Mafara local government area of the state was attacked by bandits in the early hours of this morning.

Reacting to the development, the Zamfara Police Commissioner, CP Abutu Yaro, said a joint search and rescue operation was already underway with a view to rescuing the 317 students kidnapped by the marauders, adding that the Force Commander Operations Hadarin Daji, Major General Aminu Bande, Brigade Commander 1 Brigade, Nigeria Army Gusau, and other state government officials led a heavily armed Re-enforcement team to Jangebe to complement the ongoing rescue operation in the locations where the students were believed to have been whisked to.

The CP, called on the school authorities and parents of the abducted students to remain calm as the security agencies where on top of the situation.
