Ex-Military Chief Predicts The Next War In Nigeria Would Be Fought In The Forests

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – According to the former Chief of Defence Staff, Abayomi Olonisakin, Nigerian’s next warfare would be fought in the forests.

The retired military chief made this projection during his screening at the National Assembly for an ambassadorial position, where he added that a research he carried out on forests three years ago showed that Nigeria has over one thousand forest reserves, harping on the need to man and protect these forests which have become safe havens for criminal elements.

Olonisakin resigned as Chief of Defence Staff last January after six years of service as a top military brass.

A 1992 World Bank report had stated that Nigeria’s forest reserves covers 10% of the country’s total land area.
