Shasha Face-Off: Buhari Slams Violence, Promises To Protect Religious, Ethnic, Others Groups


By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – In response to reports of the eruption of violence in some parts of the country, most especially the recent ethnic confrontation in Shasha market in Ibadan, Oyo State on Saturday, President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting all religious, ethnic and other groups in the country.

PMB made this known viaa statement issued on Sunday, in which he promised that his government would act decisively to check the spread of ethno-religious violence in the country by ensuring that nobody or group was allowed to incite attacks against other groups.

The President, in the statement, also urged religious and traditional leaders as well governors and other elected leaders across the country to join hands with the Federal Government to ensure that communities in their domain are not splintered along ethnic and other primordial lines.
