Calling For Regime Change Outside The Ballot Box Is An invitation To Chaos – Lai Mohammed To Religious Leaders

By Amaechi Idumuebor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Some heads of religious bodies in Nigeria, have been accused of clandestinely supporting the ouster of President Muhammadu Buhari, according to the Presidency.

The alarm was raised via a statement on Saturday by the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, who challenged religious leaders to stop stoking the embers of hatred which could result in worst-case scenarios for the country, adding that it was sinful for any religious heads to preach hate and national disunity during a season of peace.

“Calling for a violent overthrow of a democratically-elected government, no matter how disguised such a call is, and casting a particular religion as violent is not what any religious leader should engage in, and certainly not in a season of peace”, he said.

Mohammed added that calling for regime change through undemocratic means was illegal and an invitation to chaos.
