Kankara Abduction: What Shehu Sani Said About Conflicting Figures Of Missing Students

By John Imade (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Following release of conflicting figures of students abducted by gunmen from Government Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State, Senator Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna federal legislator, says the general focus should be on effecting release of the students, not on the number of those missing.

Shehu Sani expressed his angst over ongoing arguments over the number of missing students via his verified Twitter handle, saying

“Whenever people are killed or kidnapped, next comes disagreements in figures of the casualties or victims.

“Even if it’s one, it is still a tragedy resulting from the failure of duty to protect or prevent; And that calls for empathy and action.”

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, had disclosed that 333 students were missing, following the attack on Government Secondary School. Kankara, by armed bandits, while the Presidency, on Sunday through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, countered the governor by stating that only ten students were kidnapped.
