#EndSARS: CNN Objects To Summons By Lagos Judicial Panel

By John Imade (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – A summons by the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution of Victims of SARS Related Abuses to the Cable News Network’s team of reporters to give evidence on their reportage of the Lekki toll gate shooting, was declined by the American broadcasting company.

The CNN last month published a major investigation into the events of October 20 at the Lekki toll gate during the EndSARS protests, in which Nigerian military personnel were alleged to have shot at unarmed protesters who had convened for the #EndSARS protest with live bullets, resulting in the death of some of the protesters and injuries to scores more.

However, the federal government has vehemently denied that its security forces shot at unarmed protesters, accusing the CNN of unprofessional conduct and bias in the reportage of the Lekki incident.

The panel’s summons was issued to CNN on November 28.
