By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, says insurgency and terrorism are intractable issues that might remain in Nigeria for many more years.
The COA pointed this out via a post on his verified Facebook page, following the recent killing of rice farmers in Borno State by suspected Boko haram elements.
According to Buratai, Nigerians were ignorant of what insurgency and terrorism really meant.
“There is general misunderstanding of what insurgency and terrorism entail. There is likelihood of terrorism persisting in Nigeria for another 20 years.
“Citizens responsibility is equally important and imperative. All must cooperate to contain the lingering insecurity. Let there be collective action and responsibility.”
