Former PRTT Tsar, Maina, Arrested In Niger Republic By Nigerian Intelligence Operatives

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman of the Nigerian Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) was on Monday arrested in Niger Republic by Nigerian intelligence operatives.

This was disclosed by a top intelligence officer to PRNigeria, who said that the arrest was effected on an existing mutual relationship and security pact between the two countries.

Maina is facing a 12-count money laundering charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which alleges that the former PRTT boss used his firm to launder about N2billion, using part of the proceeds to acquire properties in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Maina’s surety, Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South in the Senate, was freed last Friday following his remand in prison after Maina jumped bail.
