Soyinka Says There Is No Bad Blood Between Him And Gowon

By Nkoli Opara (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, says he holds no grudge against Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, with whom he had made up for past misunderstandings.

The world acclaimed playwright, who disclosed this to Channels Television, said that there was no need for any further apologies from Gowon as they interact from time to time, citing the occasion when the former military strong man came for his birthday in Abeokuta as one of the occasions when they communicated socially.

According to the Nobel Prize winner, who was detained by the Gowon government for two years, in the wake of the Nigerian Civil War, the war was over and he had forgiven all those who wronged him during the war, adding, however, that the ones he can’t forgive are those who lied against him.
