Benue Plans To Set Up Youth Development Commission

By Nkoli Opara (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom says he was considering the proposed establishment of a Youth Development Commission in the state.

Ortom made the commitment during the grand finale of the three-day Benue Youth Summit held in Makurdi, where he acknowledged soundness, appropriateness and timeliness of the idea of a youth commission for the state, promising that his government give serious consideration to the proposal and work out an action plans for its execution.

The youths had, via a statement issued at the end of the summit, demanded  for the setting up of the Benue State Youth Development Commission, formulation and implementation of a State Youth Development Policy, creation of enabling infrastructural environment for business, adoption of the disability bill in the state, prioritization of education, establishment of Benue State Youth Trust Fund, dredging of River Benue, sustenance of youth summit and building of sports academies as well as recreational centres in all the senatorial districts of the state.
