By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Arewa Youths Consultaive Forum (AYCF) has flayed the court order for the remand of Senator Ali Ndume, due to his inability to produce former Pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina in court, describing it as double standards, asking why Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe was not treated the same way when Nnamdi Kanu jumped bail after effecting his release.
AYCF made this known via a statement signed by its National President, Alh. Yerima Shettima, in which the group firmly condemned Senator Ali Ndume’s detention, urging President Buhari to mediate in the matter and stop the further embarrassment of one of the north’s leading political lights.
The group, while acknowledging the fact that Abdurrashid Maina committed an offence warranting prosecution, took exception to the fact that Ndume was being harangued for the same offence Senator Abaribe – who stood surety for alleged terrorist, Nnamdi Kanu – also committed, saying it would amount to a misplacement of justice for Abaribe to walk free while Ndume is in remand.
AYCF, therefore called for the arrest and detention of Senator Abaribe, who effected bail for IPOB’s Kanu, in the interest of equity, fairness and balance, on the grounds that both Ndume and Abaribe are Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and therefore Abaribe could not be said to be higher in status than Ndume.
