EFCC Probe: Magu Is Innocent, Will Be Vindicated – Wahab Shittu

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) –  Wahab Shittu, counsel to the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, says his client is innocent of the allegations against him and will be ultimately vindicated at the end of the ongoing probe of his stewardship.

Magu’s  lawyer said this via a statement on Friday, consequent to the submission of the report of the Justice Ayo Salami led Judicial Commission of Enquiry to President Muhammadu Buhari, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to do the needful by acting expeditiously on the commission’s submissions.

While maintaining the innocence of his client, Shittu also claimed that Magu’s ongoing ordeal was the handiwork of some influential government officials who could not manipulate him to do their biddings, questioning why the Salami-led panel sat for about six months, when it was mandated to sit for 45 days, slamming the recommendation of the panel that the next EFCC leadership should not be drawn from the police force.
