APC Defection: Umahi Wants To Be President, Biting The Fingers That Fed Him – Wike

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has carpeted Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi’s defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Party (APC), accusing him of wanting to be president in 2023.

According Wike, Umahi’s cross carpeting was not due to injustice against the South-East region, as alleged by him, but due largely to his ambition to be the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023, adding that  his move had been anticipated by the party.

Wike accused Umahi of betraying the party which gave him the platform on which he realized his governorship ambition in 2015 and 2019 respectively, despite the odds stacked against him, adding that while Umahi was free to express his freedom of choosing the political party he preferred allying with, his attempts to defame his former party was deplorable.

Governor Wike’s reaction comes in the wake of the defection of his Ebonyi counterpart, David Umahi, from the PDP to the APC, on the grounds of past injustices meted out to the South East region by the PDP.
