(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – In its commitment to the improvement of healthcare in Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on Monday, laid the foundation for the construction of Amenity Hospital complex, located at the General Hospital Ogrute, Enugu Ezike, in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of the state.
The Amenity Hospital complex is a storey building, comprising a ground floor and upper floor with 40 wards and specialized wards for patients with complications. It is the first of its kind in Enugu State.
Ugwuanyi, at the event, expressed his administration’s commitment to rural development, adding that several development projects were already ongoing in some of the rural communities, especially in the areas of health, infrastructure, education etc.
Similar healthcare projects, including the Type-3 Primary Healthcare Centres, are simultaneously ongoing in some communities and villages in the state, alongside the rehabilitation of the dilapidated General Hospital, Ogrute.
Among the dignitaries at the event were the Deputy Chief Whip of Enugu State House of Assembly and member representing Igbo-Eze North 1 Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ethel Ugwuanyi, the member representing Igbo-Eze North 11 Constituency, Hon. Innocent Ugwu; Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof. Malachy Okwueze; the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Obi, his Rural Development counterpart, Hon. Prince Emeka Mamah, the Special Adviser to the Governor on PDI, Mrs. MaryRose Obiageli Abba, and other Special Advisers to Governor, Rt. Hon. Matthew Ugwueze and Hon. Okechukwu Kentus Eze, among others.
POTENTIAL IMPACT: The Amenity Hospital complex and other ongoing healthcare projects in the urban and rural areas of Enugu State, when completed, will be significant additions to the general healthcare delivery capacity of the state.
