COVID-19: FG’s Seeking $750m World Bank Loan – Minister


By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, has disclosed plans by the Federal Government to acquire a 750 million dollar loan from the World Bank to help the states mitigate the negative impact of the coronavirus.

The minister disclosed this during the launch of the Federal Steering Committees of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-CARES) program, in Abuja, the Federal Capital territory (FCT), where she said that the loan was meant to revitalize the local economy and provide palliative support for the poor and vulnerable

According to Ahmed, the federal government had created intervention programmes, which are captured in the economic sustainability plan inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari, in March 2020.
