Solid Minerals: 400 Mining Sites Identified In Katsina State

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – In its quest to develop alternative revenue sources and decrease reliance on the petroleum sector, the Katsina State Government has identified 400 legal mining sites with 37 different types of mineral resources across the 34 local government areas of the state, according to the Commissioner for Rural Development, Mr. Abdullahi Imam, who disclosed this during a ministerial media parley at the Government House in Katsina.

The mineral resources found across the 400 mining sites include gold, manganese, feldspars, kaolin, mica, tourmaline, galena, beryllium, asbestos, iron ore, aquamarine, copper, emerald, sapphire and chromite, amongst others.

To woo investors to the state to exploit the abundant mineral resources, the plans to explore revolving strategies.

POTENTIAL IMPACT: The revitalization and revitalization of the abundant mineral resources in Katsina State, will significantly improve the country’s Gross Domestic Product, reduce  overdependence on the petroleum oil sector and create more jobs.
