Army Is Underfunded, Can’t Effectively Prosecute Wars – Ali Ndume

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Ali Ndume, wants the army to be better funded, through improved budgetary allocation, to enable it meet its statutory duty of protecting the country from internal insurrection and external aggression.

Ndume, who gave this charge on Wednesday, when members of the committee visited the 8th Division Nigeria Army Headquarters, Sokoto, said that the current budgetary allocation to the military for this year, which is N120billion, was inadequate in a time of war.

The Senator said the fact-finding tour was meant to  assess all the military operations in the northwest region, and to also assess how previous budgetary allocations were spent by  the division.
