By Lillian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nigeria’s international multiple award-winning Afro-fusion initiator, Burna Boy, has released a new single titled “20:10:20”.
The new track was released on Friday October 30, few weeks after the release of his critically acclaimed ‘Real Life’ video featuring Stormzy.
Produced by The Elements, ’20:10:20′ is a emotional track that captures the recent #EndSARS uprising in Nigeria, during which hundreds of thousands of Nigerian youths across the world protested peacefully against police brutality by a special unit of the police force – Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), which ultimately resulted in the infamous “Lekki massacre” during which Nigerian soldiers opened fire on unarmed protesters kneeling down and singing the Nigerian national anthem.
The song addresses social and political injustices in Nigerians and challenges the appropriate authorities to investigate and bring to book those responsible for this incident.
According to Burna Boy, “the proceeds of this song will be used to support families of victims and people suffering affliction as a result of the Lekki shootings. May the heavens open and celebrate all our fallen heroes who have died for this movement from the very beginning. Rest In peace to all the beautiful lives lost”.
