By Lucky Uwakina (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on Tuesday claimed that the End SARS protest had political undertones.
Bello, who disclosed while speaking on Channels Television, refused to mention names, but stated that the protest was sponsored by politicians and conflict entrepreneurs.
The governor questioned why the protesters kept on increasing their demands whenever the initial ones were granted by government, adding that the movement’s lack of leadership was another pointer to the ulterior motives of its conveners.
Bello said he agreed with the youths 100% on the protests, but that the political undertone muddied what was initially a just course.
The initially peaceful #EndSARS protests by Nigerian youths calling for police reforms took on a violent dimension when it was later hijacked by hoodlums, leading to killings, arson, looting and uncontrolled destruction of public and private property.
