COVID-19: Each Governor Got N1.billion From FG, N1.1billion From World Bank – Yahaya Bello

By Lucky Uwakina (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – It has been revealed that Governors of Nigeria’s 36 states have so far received N1billion each from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to stem the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, alongside N1.1billion from the World Bank, following the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This was disclosed by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on Tuesday while appearing as a guest on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, where he said that he was the only state governor who did not sign an MoU with the World Bank.

On why he accepted COVID-19 funding from the Federal Government, despite claims that Kogi has not recorded any case of the dreaded disease, the governor said that it was due to economic reasons, proceeding to slam allegations that his government hoarded the CA-COVID palliatives in Lokoja, saying such allegations were meant to smear the state governors and the Federal Government.
