#EndSARS: Uzodinma Approves N2bn For Youth Empowerment

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has approved the release of N2bn for youth empowerment in the state, in fulfillment of his promise of initiating a dedicated empowerment package to address the needs of youths.

Uzodinma stated this via a statewide address in Owerri, the state capital, where he said that the two billion naira will be deployed for the training of the first batch of beneficiaries of the scheme known as the Imo State Special Youth Empowerment and Intervention Programme, adding that approximately 500,000 Imo youths in different skills acquisition will be given start-up capital.

POTENTIAL IMPACT: while the training programme will help build up the capacity levels of the 500, 000 youths targeted by the initiative, the start-up capitals will facilitate the establishment of businesses by these trainees. It will also help stem joblessness and youth restiveness.
