#EndSARS: NHRC Constitutes Panel To Investigate Human Rights Violations By SARS, Other Police Units

By Lucky Uwakina (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – An 11-man Independent Investigative Panel (IIP) has been constituted by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to investigate allegations of human rights abuses levelled against the operatives of the proscribed Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other units of the Nigeria Police Force.

This was disclosed by the NHRC’s Executive Secretary, Tony Ojukwu in Abuja on Friday, where he said that  the panel will listen to petitions, complaints and memoranda from Nigerians across the 36 states of the federation, including the FCT.

Headed by a retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Suleiman Galadima, the body is expected to make recommendations to the federal government on how best to reform SARS and other units of the Force.
