By Lucky Uwakina AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Following his resounding victory at the Governorship poll, which returned him to a second term in office, incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has been congratulated by President Muhammadu Buhari, who called him a man of the people.
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, via a statement on Sunday quoted President Buhari as saying that Akeredolu’s reelection was a reaffirmation of the people’s unalloyed faith in him and the APC, consequent to his margin of victory.
While urging Akeredolu to remain humble, magnanimous and committed to serving the people, he lauded Ondo citizens for the decent manner they conducted themselves during the poll, thanking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free and fair election, and security agencies for enthroning and maintaining orderliness before, during and after the exercise.
Akeredolu defeated other comers to win a second term in office, winning 15 out of 8 local governments in the state. The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) polled 292,830 votes, while Mr Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party came second and third in the election with 195,791 and 69,127 votes, respectively
