School Reopening: 60,000 Environmental Officers To Monitor Compliance With COVID-19 Safety Protocols

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – As schools across the country’s reopen, the Federal Government has mobilized about 60,000 Environmental Health Emergency Volunteers for deployment to the country’s 774 Local Government Areas to monitor compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Environment, Mohammad Abubakar on Monday in Abuja.

According to Abubakar, the health officers will be supervising the observance of basic safety measures such as hand washing, compulsory use of face mask, temperature checks as well as physical distancing, adding that the decision was reached after due consultations with stakeholders and the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 .

The Federal Government last week approved the reopening of Unity Schools across the country, shut down due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic
