FG Restates Focus On Fighting Armed Banditry And Insurgency.

By Amaechi Idumuebor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Federal Government has restated its commitment to defeating armed banditry, insurgency and other criminal elements along Nigeria’s borders.

This was revealed by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Monday at the passing out parade of 320 immigration officers who underwent training in Kano to participate in a special operation in the north-western part of the country.

According to Aregbesola, the ramping up of military presence at the borders will control proliferation of light weapons and contrabands and scupper the fluidity of bandits, insurgents and kidnappers.

The minister added that the operation was a deliberate military strategy to appropriately respond to criminal activities in northwestern Nigeria, with a view to restoring peace and security in the area.
