1-.President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday condemned the ambush of an entourage of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, which led to the death of security men and some operatives of a civilian joint task force. At least 11 security operatives have been confirmed dead in the attack on Friday, the second in as many months on Zulum’s convoy within his home state.

2-.Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has knocked those addressing him as Supreme Court Governor, describing them as ignorant people. The governor argued he was not the first to be favoured by a Supreme Court justice, adding that he emerged as governor of the state through legitimate means.

3-.Three persons have lost their lives and several others have gone missing after a truck fell off the Berger bridge into the Epe river in Lagos State. The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed this.

4-.Members of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reconciliation committee on Saturday met with former President Ibrahim Babangida. Chairman of the Committee and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, told reporters at the Minna airport that the meeting’s purpose was to strategise on how to move the party forward.

5-.The Kaduna State Government has released the sum of N1.6 billion for the payment of pensions, gratuities and death benefits to retired civil servants. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Executive Secretary of the State Pension Bureau, Salamatu Isa.

6-.Mali’s interim president, Bah Ndaw, chosen to head a transitional government following a coup last month, was sworn in during ceremonies in the capital Bamako on Friday.. A committee appointed by the junta which seized power on August 18, toppling president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, selected Ndaw, a 70-year-old retired colonel, as interim president.

7-.US President Donald Trump is set to unveil his Supreme Court nominee on Saturday, barely five weeks out from the November 3 presidential election, with US media reporting that he has chosen conservative judge Amy Coney Barrett for the job. If the 48-year-old law professor is indeed nominated and confirmed, her appointment would consolidate a conservative majority in the country’s top court.

8-.Free-spending Chelsea came from 3-0 down to salvage a 3-3 draw at newly-promoted West Brom on Saturday. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard handed the captain’s armband to Thiago Silva on his Premier League debut, but the Brazilian had a nightmare first 45 minutes as the Blues’ defensive deficiencies were easily exposed.

9-.Sergio Ramos scored a late penalty as Real Madrid came from behind to scrape a 3-2 win against 10-man Real Betis, their first La Liga victory of the season.  Betis were ahead at half-time after two goals in two minutes from Aissa Mandi and William Carvalho overturned Fede Valverde’s opener for the reigning champions.

10-.Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty, awarded after on a VAR review after the final whistle had been blown, as Manchester United rode their luck to register their first Premier League points of the season with a thrilling 3-2 win at Brighton on Saturday. The Seagulls hit the woodwork five times and thought they had earned a deserved point when Solly March headed home to equalise in the 95th minute.
