Trending Video: Claim That Nigerian Embassy In Switzerland Called Police On Nigerians Is Fake – NIDCOM

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Claims that the Nigerian Embassy in Switzerland called Swiss Police on some Nigerians who were at the Embassy to collect their passports, have been debunked by the the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

According to a signed statement issued by NIDCOM on Wednesday by its spokesman, Abdurrahman Balogun, what actually happened was that the Embassy invited officials of the Embassy Protection Unit to restore “calm and decorum to the hall” which was becoming rowdy, contrary to the impression created in a viral video that the embassy invited the Swiss Police to arrest some Nigerians.

The statement appealed to Nigerians abroad to be of good conduct when they are outside the shores of their country and learn to adhere to rules and regulations of their host countries.

Reports have it that 64 Nigerians had visited the country’s Swiss mission on that fateful day to process their documents, but the Embassy, in line with COVID-19 protocols could only attend to a maximum of 20 persons, resulting in an unruly scene at the premises of the mission.
