Our Job Is The Most Difficult On Earth, Governors Are Not Thieves, Says El-Rufai

By Lillian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday said that the general impression that state governors are corrupt was misconceived.

El-Rufai made this statement while appearing as a guest on channels Television, following the hosting of the fifth edition of Kadinvest, the state government’s investment forum.

According to the governor, state Chief Executives in Nigeria had the most difficult jobs to do as they were expected to perform miracles, despite the limited resources at their disposal, citing dwindling oil prices at the time his administration came to office as an example of the tight fiscal regime in the country that made it difficult for states to execute some capital intensive projects during that period.

El-Rufai further posited that governors were not all thieves or profligate as unlike the Federal Government they could not print money, adding that apart from Lagos, other states in the country relied on monthly allocations from the federation account to remain solvent.
