#EdoDecides2020#: Godwin Obaseki Returned As Edo State Governor


(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Mr Godwin Obaseki of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has won a second term as Governor of Edo State, following his commanding victory at the recently conducted governorship poll.

Obaseki defeated Mr Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing majority of the votes in a tough electoral duel on Saturday.

According to the final result declared by INEC Returning Officer for the Edo Gubernatorial poll, Professor Akpofure Rem-Rukeh, Governor Obaseki won the election by polling 307,955 of the total votes, 84,336, ahead of his closest rival Ize-Iyamu, who got 223, 619 votes in an election where a total of 14 political parties fielded candidates.
